(Dateline, New York)- April 18,2007

Stunning the sports world today, a group of investors headed by multi-millionaire Paul Mister announced the formation of a new late spring/early summer pro football league, which has been given a name of USFL Version 2.0 . The league has awarded franchises in sixteen cities across the United States, and, Mister says, will revolutionize the game in the same way that both the AFL and original USFL did.

Mister also stated in his press conference, "For too long, the NFL has taken its fans for granted. The recent announcement that they may add a seventeenth regular season game for extra television revenue proves that. With our league, the fans will always come first. Our owners are men and women who are in this for the love of sports, not the love of money. That we'll be playing our games at the same time as major league baseball and basketball should tell you that."

Though details are still somewhat sketchy, Mister did say that the league will have a "hard" salary cap, and that fourteen of each team's sixteen games will be within its own conference, cutting down travel expenses.

 The sixteen teams are:

Eastern Conference

New York Stars
Detroit Wheels
Miami Tropics
Philadelphia Bell
Washington Stars
Birmingham Stallions
Charlotte Southerners
Jacksonville Generals

Western Conference

Dallas Demons
Denver Gold
LA Express
Kansas City Knights
Las Vegas Posse
Houston Marshalls
Oakland Invaders
San Antonio Mustangs

Yes, football fans, the wait is over. Beginning this week, USFL Version 2.0 will debut. As Commissioner, I pledge the following to you, our fans:

The integrity of the game is sacrosanct.

We will always do our best to present games that are fun to watch.

YOU will always come first.

Respectfully yours,

David Hust

For those of you not yet up to speed, a quick recap of the major changes and innovations we've come up with -

In-season rules changes can be made if approved by a simple majority vote of the owners or their designated representatives. This means no more having to wait until the season is over to tweak new rules or adjust how they are enforced.

Each team will have four replay challenges, two per half.

The offense will have thirty seconds to snap the ball after the previous play has ended.

No 2-point conversion, just a good old-fashioned PAT.

Rosters are limited to 42 players.

No in-season trading deadline, teams may trade players until the final week of the regular season.

Multiple-overtime for regular season games when needed, no more ties.

No "bye" weeks.

All games will take place on Sundays, no more short weeks for teams playing on a Thursday (Yes, NFL, we mean you).

All games will be aired on broadcast television only, no having to pay cable companies an extra fee for the right to watch games. Fans with no local coverage will be able to watch live video over the Internet for a 99-cent charge.

Now, kick back and watch real football !
